Here at the Central Church of Christ we are making the effort to Consider Christ like never before. We are striving to make Him the center of our families, businesses, decisions....our very lives. All of our sermons in 2012 will revolve around the life, death, resurrection, and victory of Christ as we find in the Bible. Below are some things to think about in these four areas:
1. Life – The apostle Paul writes in Romans 6:10, "For the death He died He died to sin, once for all, but the life He lives He lives to God." Jesus shows us the perfect example of how are lives should be lived – in complete dependence upon the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
2. Death – It is so important for us to realize that we have been ransomed "with the precious blood of Christ" (1 Peter 1:18-19). Jesus performed many great miracles and taught us many great truths, but His greatest gift to us was Himself on the cross. Our salvation is not due to anything we have done for ourselves, but everything that Christ has done for us. Have you truly considered the cross of Christ?
3. Resurrection – We do not believe that Jesus' resurrection is wishful thinking; we share Paul's conclusion: " But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep" (1 Corinthians 15:20). We do not serve and worship a respected radical who is still in his grave; we serve and worship a risen Savior!
4. Victory – For those who are in Christ, there will be no points tallied up to see who had the higher score. Jesus has overcome life and death completely, and so can we: "And this is the victory that has overcome the world––our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" (1 John 5:4-5). Do you have confidence that you have obtained the victory found in Christ?
We hope that you will join us for our Bible studies and worship services this year as we Consider Christ in all that we do. Visit our Facebook page (linked above) for upcoming events and updates.
